Grant Hamilton, C.Tr.

Grant HamiltonA certified translator and graduate of Laval University, Grant Hamilton owns and manages Anglocom, an agency in Quebec City, Canada that specializes in high end business communications in English and French. Grant is also a regular workshop presenter for Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ) and the American Translators Association (ATA) and teaches a French-to-English translation course in marketing and advertising as part of the certificate program at New York University. In 2009 he won ATA’s Alicia Gordon Award for Word Artistry in Translation.

Grant is also a published author. His 2011 title, Les trucs d’anglais qu’on a oublié de vous enseigner, is a collection of articles on the English language inspired in large part by questions his francophone clients have asked about English over the years. In 2012, Grant and his colleague François Lavallée released a joint compendium of translation tweets entitled Tweets et gazouillis pour des traductions qui chantent. Articles by Grant have appeared frequently in the ATA Chronicle and OTTIAQ’s Circuit. Below is a sampling:

Grant is actively involved in his profession and the community. He sits on the OTTIAQ board of directors, he was assistant administrator of the Translation Company Division of ATA from 2009 to 2012, and he is president of the Quebec wing of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards, a recognition program for youth.

Grant’s agency, Anglocom, works primarily on behalf of advertising agencies, financial and insurance firms, and Quebec government ministries, but also serves leading retailers, publishers, manufacturers, and tourist industry stakeholders. It boasts one of North America’s largest specialized teams of French-to-English translators as well as a seasoned team working exclusively from English into French.
